OREO

This is Oreo in her cage in Skid Row. Only 6 months old, Oreo was living every day with not much attention, consistent food, water, exercise. We offered to care for the dog to give her a better life. Her homeless owner agreed. His survival priorities didn’t really include a pet at this time. We joyously rescued Oreo from the streets and she’s now spayed, vaccinated and in a very happy new home. Far from Skid Row. Far from neglect. In the arms of love. Your donations help us save her life.

Dula

Dula was used for breeding. After the un-housed owner sold her 2nd batch, he tied her to a fence outside and left her there for weeks. We drove by regularly to give food and water. The owner was never present. We worked with authorities to rescue her. She now lives with my neighbor across the street! She’s happy, healing, healthy and more than anything, away from her abuser. Dula and other innocent dogs that rely on humans for survival are helped by us as part of our mission to serve the extreme poor in any way we can.

Apollo

Apollo was heavily chained on a fence for most of his life. This pained us to no end, every week as we’d drive by to serve. We always gave Apollo special attention, food, water and tried to unravel him from his heavy chains. Finally, we successfully convinced authorities to unchain Apollo and now he’s with a super loving couple and another pitbull as part of an indoor, safe, happy family!! It took a while but DBDG helps the suffering, whether human or pet. That is our commitment. And with do it with no agenda. No judgment. Just pure giving. This is Apollo with his first bone, lounging on his first indoor carpeted experience!

SMOKE

Smoke has been the constant companion of Derrick since he found the pooch abandoned six years ago. They sleep together in Derrick’s tent. One day, a large shephard attacked Smoke and bit him up pretty badly. We fundraised and took Smoke to the vet. His wounds are taking a long time to heal but at least he’s got meds, and most of all his faithful companion, Derrick. The two protect each other and make surviving in Skid Row a little easier. Derrick is on a list for housing and we hope his new place will accept Smoke.

PIPPI

This little cutie, shown seconds after I snatched her out of speeding traffic, was clearly on the run for a while. Skinny, dirty, fleas. She had no chip, and after cleaning her up, getting her spayed and vaxxed, she was ready for a new life away from Skid Row. But ooops! After all that grooming, we accidentally bonded. Now, she’s part of the four rescue pups and six bunnies that live at DBDG base camp!
